In loving memory
Rev Dr Tlantla Moeno will be laid to rest on December 1 at Anglican Church in Tsakane, Brakpan, from 7.30am. The procession will then move to Brakpan Cemetery.

Deceased – was born on February 4, 1944, in the Free State and died on November 20 after a long illness.
Education – Her family moved from Free State to Brakpan in the late 1940s where she completed her primary education.
She proceeded to Adams College in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, where she matriculated.
She went to the University of Zululand for her undergraduate studies and honours.
She then enrolled for her master’s degree with the University of South Africa (Unisa) and graduated in the early 1970s.
In 1975, she went to York University in Toronto, Canada, to do her second master’s and later her PhD in sociology, which was conferred in 1981.
Career – She moved to Los Angeles where she lectured at the University of California until 1985.
Upon her return to South Africa, she assumed the role of senior researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) – a position she held until 1987 when she returned to Unisa, this time as a senior lecturer in sociology.
In 1990, Moeno joined Eskom as one of the first black senior managers in strategic planning. She received a fellowship at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, in 1991. She was also seconded to Wits Technikon for fund-raising.
Moeno was one of the senior executives at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of SA from 1993 until the landmark elections in 1994.
In 1995, she moved to Vista University (University of Johannesburg) in Soweto as the head of the sociology department until she retired in 2008.
She was the founding member of Trust for Educational Advancement in SA (TEASA) in 1987, and later its chairperson until 2004.
Community – She also did a lot for the community, setting up academically-gifted children in Tsakane and other townships with scholarships. In the process, she helped to create business people, doctors, accountants, lawyers and engineers.
Family – She is survived by her son Dineo, three grandchildren (Neo, Molemo and Oratile), two sisters (Audrey and Yvonne) cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral – December 1 at Anglican Church in Tsakane, Brakpan, from 7.30am. The procession will then move to Brakpan Cemetery.
