Mayor condemns bogus health inspectors

Kwatsaduza – The metro is warning residents about bogus individuals claiming to be metro inspectors.

In a statement released by the mayor’s office, it is alleged there are criminals who go around the community claiming to be environmental health inspectors.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Temba Gadebe says mayor Mzwandile Masina condemns in the strongest possible terms bogus environmental health inspectors who go around illegally, raiding spaza shops under false pretence that they come from the City of Ekurhuleni.

“We have noted with concern activities of these rogue individuals and reports of theft from some spaza shops by the bogus inspectors.

“The city’s environmental health practitioners are issued with identity cards that bear the photo of the concerned practitioner and office telephone number.

“Residents accosted by the bogus inspectors can verify the authenticity of the so-called practitioners by calling the city’s health and social development offices from which the practitioner comes.

“They can call the Alberton Head Office on 011 999 2970 or Nigel on 011 999 9258.

“If you suspect that your safety is being threatened contact your nearest police station or 10111,” he says.
