In loving memory of Det Sgt Nokhaya Nastasia Nkwanyane

Deceased: Det Sgt Nokhaya Nastasia Nkwanyane was born in KwaThema on July 10, 1982.

Education: She began her education at Umsobomvu Primary School before completing her matric at Nkumbulo Secondary School.

As a teenager, Nokhaya had an interest in artistic and cultural activities and was a member of a traditional dance group at Lefa Ifa Secondary School as well as a choir member at Assemblies of God in KwaThema.

Career: She joined the SAPS Tshwane Police Academy, where she graduated in 2005. She was later stationed at Ratanda Police Station. Nokhaya then furthered her studies through Unisa obtaining a diploma in 2016 and a Baccalaureus Technologiae in Policing in 2017.

As a member of Ratanda Detective Services, the 36-year-old was deployed to Sudan as peacemaker for 18 months but met her untimely death on January 12 while on leave.

Family: She leaves behind her mother, father, two sisters, 16-year-old son and five-year-old daughter.

Funeral: Her funeral will take place on January 19. The service will begin at 8am at Heidelberg Town Hall then proceed to Bersig Cemetery at 10am.
