Storm water drain construction is a hazard to the community
“This is unacceptable because they were paid to complete the job and this is what they delivered.”
KwaThema – Residents of Mthembu Village in Masimini section are angry after the contractor left the stormwater drainage open since April.
The construction company, after digging the tarred road during roadworks to install new stormwater channels, left the road with dangerous sink holes unattended to.

“To date three vehicles drove into the holes and this might lead to a serious accident with people losing their lives.
“They have also removed our pavements and left without fixing them.
“Before they started working, they promised us that they would fix all the damages they caused on our private properties, but we are today left with sinking holes and damaged pavements,” he explains.
Ward 8 DA PR Clr Lona Bharie says they want to know where the construction company is, and why it left without completing the job.
“This is unacceptable because they were paid to complete the job and this is what they delivered.
“They were meant to decrease the flooding but left the residents with more problems which are putting the lives of the residents and motorists in danger.
“The residents have tried on numerous accounts to report the matter to the ward councillor, but little has been done to remedy the situation,” she says.
