KwaThema – The SAB tournament play-offs continued on July 7, as teams from various areas within Ekurhuleni battled for the number-one spot.

KwaThema Stadium hosted home team Tornado Lions, Nigel Shamrocks, Pule Football Club and Benoni Northerns.

The opening match was between Tornado Lions and Nigel Shamrock.

Tornado won by four points to two.

Tornado Lions captain Sinethemba Sithole says: “The game was a challenging one because it was a must-win for us in order to qualify for the next round.”

The winning team will get a promotion to play in the SAB League.

Team manager of Tornado Lions Lereku Leku says he is very happy with his team’s performance as they have shown progress, but are yet to realise the importance of teamwork.

Pule FC won by four to two against Benoni Northerns.

Pule FC captain Vusi Buyani says: “It was a very competitive game, more especially because it was an open game, but I am so proud of my team for pulling through and representing Tembisa well today.”

Benoni Northerns were sent home after a very intense game.

Team captain Kwanda Sokutu says he is very disappointed because of the chances they failed to use and that it was not their best performance.
