Man killed by angry mob

“The angry mob forced their way inside the house and started assaulting him to his death and then dragged his body outside the house and abandoned it there".

Tsakane – A 27-year-old man was beaten to death by an angry mob on Thursday in Impela Street, Extension 15, Tsakane.

It is alleged the man broke into a neighbour’s house. Other neighbours saw him in the yard and informed the owner, who was at work at the time.

While they waited for the owner to arrive, the residents made sure the suspect did not leave the house.

“We are appealing to the community not to take the law into their hands. Whenever suspects are apprehended, the police should be called to the scene.

“Even though as police we encourage the know-your-neighbour system to fight crime, as in this case, we also discourage people from taking the law into their own hands.”
