Residents warned about car theft in KwaThema

Ensure the vehicle is parked in a secured space i.e. secured wall, locked gates.

KwaThema – KwaThema residents are warned about the increased theft of motor vehicles in the area.

The warming comes after three vehicles were stolen over the weekend.

Residents are warned to be extra careful with vehicles not locked up in the garage and parked inside their yards.

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says the first incident happened on August 14 at about 5.30pm in Vergenoeg.

“The complainant alleged he parked his Nissan Sentra and when he woke up the next day his vehicle was stolen.

“The second incident happened on August 15, at about 9pm in White City. The owner of the white double cab alleged he parked his bakkie and went to sleep and found the vehicle missing in the morning.

“In another incident the complainant also alleged that on August 16, at about 8.30pm, he parked a Toyota Camry in his premises and it was stolen during the night.”

All these vehicles were stolen in sector three areas and the community is sensitised to be more vigilant and report any suspicious activities in the area.

Safety measures are to be considered:

• Ensure the vehicle is parked in a secured space i.e. secured wall, locked gates.

• Installation of security features, alarms, tracking devices.

• Ensure the windows are properly closed, doors locked.
