Boikhutso sentenced to 23 years in prison

The following day when they realised he was dead, they took him out of the freezer and left his lifeless body in the neighbour's yard.

KwaThema – Boikhutso Lerato Mfundo (34) was found guilty on counts of kidnapping and murder by the Springs Regional Court.

On June 6, 2016, the accused, with his accomplice, kidnapped Mphasane Mokoena (31) for allegedly committing a house break-in and theft.

They took him to one of their residences where they assaulted and placed him inside a freezer.

The following day when they realised he was dead, they took him out of the freezer and left his lifeless body in the neighbour’s yard.

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says a case of kidnapping and murder was opened.

“One of the accused died while the case was on trial, two were acquitted, and Mfundo, who stood trial, was found guilty and sentenced to three years for kidnapping and 20 years for murder and was declared unfit to possess a firearm,” she explains.
