KwaThema – Police are investigating a case of rape after a 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a three-year-old toddler on Tuesday.
The complainant explained to the police that on the day she identified that there was something amiss with the child when she complained about a pain.

She told her that a suspect known to her had raped her, and that he made other children watch as it happened.
KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says the concerned mother went to ask some of the children about the allegations, and they confirmed the incident and related the same story.
“The case of rape was opened and the suspect was traced and arrested.
He was further detained at KwaThema SAPS and will soon appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court,” she explains.

Khoza urged parents to monitor their children, and know their whereabouts at all times.
“Parents must ensure the safety of their children as [if they are left unattended] they are left vulnerable and easy targets for perpetrators,” she adds.
