CanSurvive volunteers receive Umalusi-accredited training certificates

KwaThema – CanSurvive Cancer volunteers working in the community of Kwatsaduza received Umalusi-accredited certificates for the training on early signs of childhood cancer on Wednesday.
The group will be visiting homes in the area to educate families about cancer or taking care of patients and survivors.

Ronnie Nkabinde of CanSurvive Cancer says they decided to offer training for their volunteers to improve their skills in helping the vulnerable in the community.
“We will continue to upskill our volunteers by offering other specialised training since we will be expanding to areas outside Gauteng.
“This is because we pride ourselves on offering quality services to our survivors, we even decided to absorb a registered counsellor for our members and have access to a psychologist who attends our weekly sessions.
“We also have qualified nursing sisters who will be conducting prostate-specific antigen, better known as PSA tests during our awareness events.

“We are therefore inviting young people who are interested in making a difference in the lives of cancer patients to come forward,” he says.
Nkabinde adds they are currently looking for a new venue for their Wednesday meetings in Tsakane.
