Unemployed youth and budding business people now have a hub station
The British Council donated laptops, desktops, a printer and a projector.
KwaThema – Activate: Change Drivers, a non-profit organisation in partnership with the British Council and Ntethe Consulting Services, launched a youth hub station on January 24 at KwaThema Business Park.
Activate is a youth programme which focuses on empowering unemployed youth in the community.
Natasha Olivier who is the youth economic participation sector head of Activate: Change Drivers says the organisation’s purpose is to empower the youth.

“We empower youth with various sets of skills from entrepreneurship, business skills, leadership skills, and economics amongst other things, through our residential course which is a year-long course.
“The course is free and everything is supplied for, including transport.
“They learn the basics from self-development to key social issues,” says Olivier.
The British Council donated laptops, desktops, a printer and a projector.
“With this new hub, activators and the youth within the community will be able to have access to internet, create their résumé, draft business plans and so much more, free of charge.
“Because we have noted that these things cost a lot of money, including being able to use the internet,” she adds.

Managing director of Ntethe Consulting Services Sandile Tsie says: “We are very proud to be part of this initiative, as there are many benefits and opportunities which definitely make a difference in the lives of our young people.
“This new station will make it simple for a person who doesn’t have resources to be able to apply, whether it is for a job or school purposes.
“The space here will also make it possible for them to have meetings whether it is with potential business partners, investors or stakeholders.”
The organisation is currently recruiting young people between the ages of 18 to 30 to be part of their organisation; applications can only be obtained online on www.activateleadership.co.za
They open Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 3.30pm at the KwaThema Business Park Unit Block D8.
