Police give JE Malepe Secondary a surprise visit

Tsakane – Tsakane police conducted a surprise police search at JE Malepe Secondary School as part of fighting crime in local schools on Friday.
The search was carried out in collaboration with Tsakane CPF, the Department of Community Safety and Gauteng traffic officials.
Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says the school searches are part of ensuring safety in schools.

“This will allow for learning to run smoothly in our schools.
“During the searches we look for illegal susbstances, drugs and any weapons that might be used to harm other learners,” she explains.
Mngomezulu urges parents and other stakeholders to join them in keeping the schools as a safe environment and instilling discipline in the learners.

“We need to join hands in keeping our children in line and ensuring they focus on their studies.
“We are also calling on learners to report any form of bullying in schools and also gang members bullying them outside the school premises,” she adds.
During the search, police found packets of dagga and cigarettes dropped on the floors of the classrooms.
