Organisation wants to help underprivileged children

Langaville – The Mandla Charles Gininda Projects in partnership with the Dusty Soccer Knockout (DUSOK) is pleading with the public to support its second annual Langaville Easter drive.

The organisation works hand in hand with those in need and aims to assist over 200 underprivileged children.

Founder and organiser Mandla Gininda says: “This year we aim to assist 200 needy children with school bags, school uniforms and clothes.

“We are asking the community to get involved and donate whatever they have, whether new or used, but the items must be in good condition.

“We are doing this to try and ease the lives of so many children in our community who are struggling and have no one to turn to.”

The initiative will run from February until April.

The organisation is asking for donations of school bags, beanies, gloves, scarves, Drimac jackets, hoodies, socks and other items of clothing for children and adults.

Last year they managed to assist about 50 children.

“It may be February now, but most children are without proper school uniforms and so forth, and winter is coming.

“We as the community cannot just sit back and do nothing.

“That is why we are targeting a higher number of children this year,” he adds.

People who would like to donate can do so by dropping off donations either at Kasilicious Container in Extension One or at Langaville Motor Spares, from 10am to 5pm, until April 9.

“We have a donor’s form for donors to fill in when doing their drop-offs. All they have to do is fill it in, to make it easy for us to keep track of who donated what.

“Handovers will be done on April 13. Some of the items will be given to orphanages, homes and centres within Langaville,” says Gininda.
