Pensioner needs help with finding his family
The pensioner resides at Tsakane Old Age Home following his release from Modderbee prison.
Tsakane – Eighty-year-old Willington Qinga is appealing to the community for assistance in tracing his family.
The pensioner resides at Tsakane Old Age Home following his release from Modderbee prison.
He served a 10-year sentence and is currently out on parole.
“Our family originates from Mdantsane township in East London.
“I last heard that both of my sisters have died, but no one from our family has come to check on me.
“I have last seen them before I went to jail and used to speak on the phone with my younger sister, who is dead,” says Qinga.

He was meant to serve five years in prison and the other years as a suspended sentence.
“I was forced to serve the full 10 years in prison because we couldn’t locate my family, which meant I had no address to put down in my file.
“Before I was arrested I resided in Bredell, Kempton Park.
“Now I am forced to live here because I still have to sign for my parole,” he explains.
Qinga states the environment in which he finds himself is depressing.

“Being here is very depressing for me because most people who live here need extensive care, and I am still able to do things for myself.
“I can do my own laundry, cook, clean after myself, I even assist around here.
“I need to be in an environment which is not so crowded, where I can have my own space.
“But most importantly, I need to find my family,” he adds.
His parole ends in 2022.
