KwaThema resident wins brand-new car
The store received over 2 000 entries for the competition, which had been running from October last year.
KwaThema – When Sibongiseni Mkhize (44) entered the local car giveaway competition, little did he know he would become a winner.
Hundreds of local residents braved the cloudy, cold and stormy weather in the hopes of owning the brand-new car of a competition by Savemoor Food Town Hyper KwaThema on Saturday at KwaThema Square.
The store received over 2 000 entries for the competition, which had been running from October last year.
The first and second people who were called were unfortunately not available at the venue to be crowned as winners, which was one of the requirements.

The third person, which was an elderly women, didn’t have a valid driver’s licence, another requirement, but did not walk away empty handed as she received a food hamper.
Operations manager at Savemoor Clayton Rawstorne says: “The entries were narrowed down to about 900 finalist.
“We had to verify if the participants had followed the rules and regulations of the competition.
“The entire competition is merely about giving back to the community, to say thank you for the support they have been giving and to keep them happy.
“We are very happy with the response as it has been very positive.”

Mkhize from Masimini section, KwaThema, says he had a feeling he might win.
“The joy I am feeling right now is out of this world, I think it’ll take a bit of time before it can fully sink in.
“I had a feeling when I arrived at the venue, and the person I came with told me I was here to collect my car,” says Mkhize.
Ten contestants walked away with hampers sponsored by Clover and Tiger Brands.
