Be careful of the decisions you make today: Listen to your elders
I am very sad and disappointed about the way my life turned out, but the honest, every person is the captain of his or her life.
Have you ever realised the mistakes we were making during our school years, the youth of today are also making?
During those years, I remember one gentleman who came to our school, Lefa-Ifa Secondary School, to motivate us to make the right choices that will make us better people today.
I am very sad and disappointed about the way my life turned out, but the honest, every person is the captain of his or her life.
The motivators then were speaking a language we all understood.
Their words still echo in my head to this day.
We were encouraged to be a child and enjoy that time to the fullest, learn as much as we can because those lessons will come in handy when you have grown up.
It is painful to see the majority of the youth today in relationships they don’t understand, which put them under unnecessary pressure.
When I see young people who absconded classroom or see them smoking dagga it is a reminder of how my life got out of control.
I also made these mistakes, but they left me and my friends without anything tangible, except a claim of being father to children they don’t play much of a role in raising.
It pains me seeing young men scavenging in people’s dustbins for their next meal.
Why doesn’t my mistake teach a person how wrong I was to think I can decide better, in stead of listening to my elders?
The truth is, no child knows more about life than his parent or elders.

We made terrible mistakes which still haunt some of us.
This letter is addressed to the youth who think this world owes them anything.
You have to stand and love live and live it positively.
Our country is one of the best in the world to make you a better person.
