Ward 86 in Duduza will be having a prayer meeting to address social challenges within the community
“We can’t always wait for the government, we need to take action and say enough is enough."
Duduza – Community to host prayer meeting about gender-based violence, human trafficking, suicide amongst the youth, teachers and learners at Monty Motloung Hall on Saturday from 12noon until 3pm.
The prayer meeting has been organised by the Ward 86 Committee, and speakers from within the community and education district will attend.

Bishop Isaac Ndlovu says: “We are encouraging members of the community to come and pray with us, as these issues affect us as a whole.
“Children are going missing and domestic violence continues to destroy families.
“Each topic will be presented by a speaker followed by a prayer; the ward councillor will also be in attendance.”
He adds that youth unemployment is also a contributor to human trafficking.
“Unemployment has made it easy for criminals to target our youth as they use false job advertising to lure young women and men.
“Unfortunately, our youth do not want to be guided by their elders nowadays, they wait for things to get out of hand first.

“People need to be very careful when pursuing job advertisements and learn to do research before engaging in such posts,” he says.
Meggie Kubeka, who works with women and children through the committee, says government on its own can’t win the fight.
“We can’t always wait for the government, we need to take action and say enough is enough.
“A lot is happening within our communities and as much as government is trying, they also need our assistance as these things are taking place within our communities.
“Therefore, it must always start with us, and it should be known that we won’t tolerate such cruelties against women and children.”
