Former Government Employees of South Africa is warning the community against a R1 500 scam
The organisation urges people to report those who want a payment of R1 500.
Tsakane – Non-profit organisation Former Government Employees of South Africa is warning members of the public about a scam making rounds, whereby former employees are asked to pay an amount of R1 500 to get assistance with claiming for their money.
The organisation offers assistance to people with regards to cash payment claims. They have branches within all nine provinces and have been operating for 12 years.
Chairperson and founder of the organisation Kea Hlope says they work with both the private and public sector.

“Our doors are open to any beneficiaries who need information and assistance with applying, whether it is unemployment insurance fund or any other claims.
“What we as the organisation do is we provide the channels and guide the beneficiaries step by step until they get their monies.
“We as the organisation do not charge for our services, everything we do is free of charge. We also work with orphans, providing them with information on how to claim for their parents’ monies from the companies they used to work for,” says Hlope.
Deputy chairperson Justice Nkabule says they have been receiving complaints of people wanting to be paid in order to assist them.

“This thing of people wanting money is a scam because once a person has applied they get a short message service detailing them with the update on their application.
“Even when the payments are being made, the beneficiary receives a text to notify them,” says Nkabule.
The organisation will be having a meeting on Saturday at Shadrack Mbambo Primary School from 8.30am.
