KwaThema community centre hosts an open day

The centre gives high school dropouts from 18 years old and above an opportunity to obtain their national senior certificates.

KwaThema – KwaThema Community Learning Centre hosted over 900 learners on February 26 for their official 2020 orientation in Lefa-Ifa Secondary School.

The centre gives high school dropouts from 18 years old and above an opportunity to obtain their national senior certificates.

Educator at the centre Martha Nkosi says: “The main purpose of this event is to welcome our new learners and to introduce them to the educators, give them a full break day of our programmes and teach them about the code of conduct here at our centre.

“The centre is there for the public who would like to complete their matric. We have two exams yearly, the group which registered last year in August will be writing between May and June and those who registered in January will get to write their exam in November,” says Nkosi.

The centre takes learners who also wish to upgrade their matric results. They also offer sewing and computer classes.

Motivational speaker Brendon Diphoko says learners should not feel discouraged.

“Everyone has the ability and nature never created failure, our circumstances should not determine where we going as individuals.
