Centre empowers community through skills development and training
The community received information on different careers, how to go about job searching, how to apply online and creating a resume from different stakeholders who were in attendance.
Duduza – The Duduza Community Development Centre, in partnership with the Department of Labour, held a career exhibition and a certificate awards ceremony for their previously registered learners at the Monty Motloung Hall, on March 5.
Centre manager Happy Tshabalala says: “As the centre, our aim is to eradicate poverty through skills development and training.
“Today, we have invited the community to come witness our students as they will be awarded with certificates which indicate that they have attended skills training courses.
“We offer different skill courses, from computer, boiler maker, welding; carpentry, call centre and security training and all these services are free of charge.”

Nkululeko Gumbi, one of the beneficiaries, says he is grateful for the opportunity given to him.
“I enrolled because I didn’t have any qualification nor skills. I am truly grateful for the opportunity, I can now start looking for a job knowing I have some skill and a qualification,” says Gumbi.
The centre aims to develop the youth of Kwatsaduza and Nigel with their skills training courses.
Information regarding applications is available at the Duduza Resource Centre which operates from Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 4pm.

“The time frames for each course differ from course to course. We have courses which are two months long and some take about three months.
“What I would advise people to do is they need to list down their names at our centre and as soon as funds are made available, as we are being funded by the social development, we start making placements,” says computer facilitator Siphiwe Maseko.
Ninety beneficiaries were awarded with skills training certificates.
