Newly appointed taxi PRO gunned down

Tsakane – Newly elected Greater Brakpan Taxi Association PRO Lucky Skhosana was gunned down on Thursday afternoon.

His body was found near an open veld on 12 Road, Tokyo, Tsakane.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says the police were called to the scene of the shooting in the area at around 4pm.

“On arrival, they found the 41-year-old man lying in a pool of his own blood.

“He was declared dead by the paramedics on the scene.

“It is alleged that the deceased was coming out of his home when two men, who were driving a silver Toyota Etios, started shooting in his direction.

“The suspects managed to flee the scene in the direction of KwaThema,” she explains.

Mngomezulu says the motive for the killing is unknown at this time. No one has been arrested and investigation is underway.

“We are calling on anyone with information about the incident or a description of the suspects to come forward.

The African Reporter has contacted  secretary of the Brakpan Taxi Association, Dan Masango, who has confirmed  that the deceased is a member of their association.

The BTA will meet with SANTACO Ekurhuleni, on Tuesday, to attempt to resolve some of the challenges they are facing.
