Kwatsaduza Liquor Traders Association still going strong after 20 years operating

Kwatsaduza – Kwatsaduza Liquor Traders Association celebrated its 20 year anniversary. The association was established in 1999, in Tsakane.

Chairperson of the association Lindiwe Mtimunye says: “The association was established in 1999 by liquor traders who did not have the licence at that time.

“We were then granted licences by the South African liquor trader along with the liquor board and since then some of our members have progressed and obtained tavern licences.

“We initially started in Tsakane, but currently we are operating within the whole of Kwatsaduza, which is why we have named it the Kwatsaduza Liquor Traders Association, and we work with the community and try our best to accommodate everyone.”

The organisation works hand in hand with officials to ensure the safety of the community, according to association secretary Mantoa Maile.

“We are not only focused on selling alcohol or entertaining patrons, but we also retain all the laws and by-laws of our government.

“We work with the police, department of community safety and liquor board.

“We believe that compliance is key, we have eight compliance laws that we, together with our patron, must obey,” says Maile.

Chairperson Mtimunye says community safety is their first priority.

“For us to have a safe community we need to work together and uphold the law.

“I would like to thank all our executive members for their hard work and for their dedication in keeping the association running and our patrons for their support and our general workers for all their hard work,” says Mtimunye.
