Ekurhuleni Goodwill Games postponed
This is due to the pandemic and lockdown regulations set by the government.
Kwa-Thema – The Ekurhuleni Goodwill committee has announced the annual Goodwill Games will not be held this festive season.
This is due to the pandemic and lockdown regulations set by the government.
In a statement released by the committee, Don Nhlapo said this decision is in support of the efforts set in place.

“This is to ensure we protect the lives and safety of sporting enthusiasts and the sport-loving community.
“The announcement by government that we should act in a responsible manner and not jeopardise the health and safety of others is what we also encourage.
“We are urging local teams and spectators to heed the call in the interest of all and discourage irresponsible behaviour during the festive season,” he said.
He added the committee will embark on a relief and recovery programme working with the City of Ekurhuleni and businesses to reach out to children and the elderly who have been affected by the virus.

“During this time we will distribute food parcels and other interventions to ensure our people are assisted to overcome the harsh conditions brought on by the pandemic.
“We would like to remind our people that Covid-19 does not discriminate and knows neither age nor gender.
“The safety of our people depends on how we as individuals conduct ourselves,” he concluded.
