Keamogetswe M Foundation extended a hand to feed the hungry on Christmas Day in Extension Eight.
“Christmas is a very special occasion but unfortunately many others have never had an opportunity to dine with their loved ones and actually have a meal as a result of many social problems.
“Just like any other story of a black child, I am rooted in the cornerstones of a harshly poverty stricken community.
“Working over the past eight months in the community has exposed me to deeper problems that our people face on a daily basis,” said Keamogetswe Masike, the foundation’s founder.

To date, the organisation has donated food parcels to more than 3 000 families who were harshly hit by the effects of the Covid-19 lockdown.
Keamogetswe says those affected are mostly the elderly, persons with disabilities, and child-headed families.
“The festive season comes and goes and therefore we should devote our time in meaningful things that will help in the growth and development of our communities, but most importantly families.

“I know many of these families don’t have anything to eat, so giving them food would really mean a lot to them.”
The foundation is working on an outreach programme to raise 500 pairs of school shoes that will be donated to public schools around Kwa-Thema and other parts of Ekurhuleni.

“January is going to be hectic for us as we will be supporting 15 Early Childhood Development Centres with food.”
