Joe Mzamani Road construction resumed
They didn’t receive their January salaries and in December some of them were paid half their salaries.
Kwa-Thema – Construction of Joe Mzamani Road resumed on Tuesday morning.
This is after the constructor refused to resume work due to a lack of payment after the festive holiday, as reported in the African Reporter’s February 5 edition, ‘Non-payment halts road construction’.
It was also reported that employees were unsure whether they still had jobs as no one informed them of the situation.

They didn’t receive their January salaries and some of them were paid only half their salaries in December.
The 100m project was supposed to be completed in December but due to delayed payments and lack of materials, the completion has been delayed.
Employee Sibusiso Mashiane said they are happy they received their payments and work has resumed.

Ward 80 councillor Wilson Busakwa was also pleased that the constructor had sorted out his challenges and work has resumed.
“They will be doing the final touches, which include priming the road and road markings.
“We are expecting this to be wrapped up within a month,” he added.
