Driver shot during hijacking

“The driver screamed for help, but he was sprayed with pepper spray and shot in his upper back.”

Tsakani – Police are investigating a case of hijacking after a 38-year-old man was shot during a hijacking incident on Sunday.
He was driving a white Toyota Conquest mini taxi with registration number TZ 499 GP.
It is alleged the driver was stopped by two unknown men along Letsapa Street, indicating they were going to Extension 15.
While driving along old James Nkosi Road, one of the men who was sitting in the back instructed him to stop the car, with a gun pointed at the driver.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka explained the driver refused to stop the car, so one of the suspects pulled up the hand brake, forcing it to stop.
“The driver screamed for help, but he was sprayed with pepper spray and shot in his upper back.
“The hijackers drove the vehicle to Ext 22, Tsakani, where they dropped the driver and drove away with the vehicle. The driver was taken to Pholosong Hospital for treatment,” he added.
