Law-breakers arrested on the streets of Tsakani

During the operations, a Kia truck that was reported stolen at Boksburg SAPS in November 2018 was recovered. It was discovered the engine had been tampered with.

Tsakani – Ekurhuleni police conducted an integrated operation to clamp down on various suspects.
The operation ran from Wednesday until Thursday and was led by SAPS members and other law enforcement agencies.

On Wednesday night, 258 suspects were arrested within the district’s policing precincts while tracing suspects to ensure wrong-doers are brought to book.

Among the suspects, 119 were arrested for assault, of which 35 are related to gender-based violence cases.

Ekurhuleni district communications officer Capt Neldah Sekgobela said other suspects were nabbed for fraud, theft, murder, armed robbery, rape, pointing a firearm, contravention of protection order, malicious damage to property, burglary, possession of stolen property and theft and possession of motor vehicles.

“Police also made recoveries of shovels, headlamps, knives, picks, steel plates, gumboots and ore from illegal mining activities, where four suspects were arrested.

“District commissioner Maj-Gen Anna Sithole took the operations to Tsakani SAPS on Thursday morning, where 123 traffic fines to the value of R46 300 were issued to those who contravened the Road Traffic Act.

Tsakani police raided two illegal shebeens as part of the O Kae Molao operation.

“Four illegal shebeens were closed and fines to the value of R6 000 were issued to the owners. Five fines were issued to second-hand goods dealers for non-compliance to the value of R7 500.

“Three suspects were also arrested for possession of drugs, one for dealing in drugs and one suspect was arrested for non-compliance of the Firearm Act 60 /2000,” she said.
