Special licensing dispensation for the elderly

The elderly residents will still be able to access these services during the week, but the last weekends of the month will be set aside just for them.

The City of Ekurhuleni has reserved the last Saturday of every month for 60-year-olds and above to get their vehicle and driver’s licences at all its licensing centres as of March 26.
The elderly residents will still be able to access these services during the week, but the last weekends of the month will be set aside just for them.
Although these days are reserved for the elderly, the booked services, including the driver’s licence and learner’s licence tests, booked for other age groups will not be interrupted.
MMC for Community Safety Victor Moseki urged elders not to miss this opportunity.

“As a caring City, we are trying by all means to have all communities catered for when visiting our licencing centres, especially the elderly and people with disabilities,” he said.
In the meantime, people with disabilities are also encouraged to contact the divisional head of licensing, Hamilton Ledwaba, and Rodney Goliath to make arrangements for their special and specific needs.
Ledwaba can be contacted at hamilton.ledwaba@ekurhuleni.gov.za or on 0659307844, while Goliath may be contacted at rodney.goliath@ekurhuleni.gov.za or on 082 676 8230.
