Resident hands out school shoes
Learners from parts of Duduza received school shoes from the resident.
Duduza – Resident Katiso Rantlha and friends donated 73 pairs of school shoes and lunch packs to learners from various primary schools in Duduza on Monday.
The handover was held at Zamani Open Park.
Rantlha explained they have done community outreach programmes in the past; however, it was paused due to Covid-19.
“The main purpose of this campaign was to reach out to those who are less fortunate.
“We have done similar outreach programmes in the past, but we had to place them on hold for a while due to Covid-19.
“We figured it was time we revived it by coming together and giving back to our community,” he explained.

One of the donors, Maletsatsi Mokoena, said they wanted to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
“I feel it is important we close the gaps created by unemployment and poverty whenever there’s a need.
“Therefore, it is more like planting a seed since we noticed lots of learners in the area needed shoes and we thought we should make a difference.
“We are encouraging them to stay in school and learn. As the saying goes, education is the key to success because it liberates.”
She urged learners to take care of their school facilities and respect their school uniforms.
Local business owner Thabo Moorosi said levels of unemployment are extremely high and as a business they wanted to assist where possible by giving back.
Rantlha said this is a first of many as they wish to do more to make a difference in their communities.
