Lebone Primary School re-introduces sporting activities
Extra-curricular programmes underway for Lebone Primary School learners.
Tsakani – Lebone Primary School is eager to revive extra-curricular activities now that Covid-19 regulations have been relaxed.
The school’s sports coordinator Inky Themba Mabuza said they are enthusiastic to be participating in extracurricular activities again.
On May 18 they will be competing in a choral music competition.
The school has already taken part in a spelling bee competition at Kwa-Thema Civic Center on Freedom Day, competed in soccer tournaments and attended the KFC Mini-Cricket provincial festival on April 29 in Benoni.
Mabuza said activities are good for learners to avert getting involved with illicit activities.

“We want to re-instil the love of sport in our school so that our learners don’t get bored and end up doing wrong things. Sport lets the mind think constructively and promotes social well being.
“So far the results and participation has been great. We can see that our learners are enjoying it and having fun,” he explained.
He is also calling on parents and the community to support the school as they revive the sport.
“It takes a village to raise a child. It is important for parents and the community to work with educators in building and shaping these learners to reach their full potential.
“When we are hosting games or other activities meant to help in developing the learners, we would appreciate the support from the community as well as the parents,” he added.
The school currently participates in soccer, cricket, music, volleyball, athletics and debate tournaments.
