Fashion showcase to take over taxi rank
The next installment of the fashion campaign will aim to bring awareness on taxi violence.
Kwa-Thema – eKasi Fashion Week (EFW) will host its 15th showcase on May 29 at Duduza Rank (Kwa-Thema).
This year’s instalment aims to raise awareness about taxi violence through fashion.
Founder Stephen Monoki said they want to change people’s perspectives about South African taxi ranks.
“Taxi ranks in SA are known for violence and brutal killings. We want to change such a mindset.
“Who does a fashion show at a taxi rank? That on its own is mind blowing,” stated Monoki.
Local and international designers are invited to showcase at the event as well.
Monoki added that taxi ranks also hold some positive things, which can be overshadowed by the negative at times.
“Taxi ranks are a place of peace and harmony where people can sit down and watch a fashion runway. And rumour has it that some of the taxi drivers will be part of the cast,” he said.
