Learners educated about abuse
Awareness programme to commemorate Child Protection Month.
Tsakani – As part of Child Protection Month, Tsakani SAPS visited different schools in the area to teach learners about what constitutes abuse.
This was made possible by different departments and organisations, including SAPS social crime prevention, SAPS communication, the Department of Community Safety, Tsakani Crisis Centre and Child Welfare, who conducted a talk at Michael Zulu Primary School.
Learners were educated about the dos and don’ts after rape, the reporting period after the incident and bullying.

Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu said the visits will be carried out at different schools in the area.
“We planned to raise awareness on crimes against children which includes bullying, rape and abuse.
“Bullying is one of the challenges many learners face in school and we saw it fit to educate them about what constitutes bullying and the importance of reporting it,” she explained.
Sgt Lebogang Ramaesa emphasised that criminal activities such as drug use, stealing, disrespecting educators and bullying other children won’t be tolerated by police.
