Tsakani – Edalinceba Primary School learners are aiming to make it to the nationals in the Mathematics Olympiad.
On Friday, three Grade Seven learners participated in the second leg of the competition held at Micheal Mkhwanazi Primary School.
This is after they progressed in the cluster level of the competition held at Iphahamising Primary School on May 25.
Of the nine learners that progressed to the district level, three were from the school where Lerato Cola obtained the first position.

During the second phase of the competition, held at Micheal Mkhwanazi Primary School, Aphiwe Mdeliswa (Grade Four) placed first while Grade Six learner Thalita Ngedelele obtained second place and Grade Six learner Ntokozo Manki placed third.
The school principal said he is proud of the learners and hopes that they will make it far in the competition.
The school is pleading for donations in the form of tablets and other tools that they can use to improve their mathematics skills.
“These are learners from underprivileged backgrounds. At the next phase of the competition they will be required to use tablets, which they can barely use because we don’t have such resources in the school,” said the principal.
