Andries Raditsela Clinic to launch health programme aimed at youth

Langaville – Local clinic Andries Raditsela will be launching a Youth Zone programme on June 16 aimed at creating a user-friendly environment for young people.
The programme will cater for people from the ages of nine to 24.
Organiser Sister Nonhlanhla Dhladhla said they want to ensure the youth get access to the health services rendered and proper referral system to multi-disciplinary teams, without intimidation or judgement.
“Adolescent Youth-Friendly Services (AYFS) is a programme initiated by the department of health to ensure young people get access to all our services without feeling intimidated by the medical staff.
“We want young people to feel at ease when in need of our services, to be able to open up to us so they can get the help they need,” said Dhladhla.

They also conduct health sessions on Wednesdays, from 14:00 to 16:00, where the youth get educated on various health topics.
Dhladhla added that the community can get involved by referring young people to the facility and through donations and sponsorships.
“We buy sanitary towels for the girls that attend our sessions monthly; we started doing this in February last year.
“An endorsement of sanitary towels, food parcels, stationery, clothes and refreshments would go a long way.
“It would make a huge difference in the lives of the people we cater for under this programme.
“Not forgetting moral support as well,” she added.
They also run a support group for teenage mothers and mothers who are breastfeeding, on a monthly basis.
The campaign will run from 09:00 until 13:00.
