Organisation to engage with community about drug abuse
Local organisations fighting drugs to host drug awareness and prayer day.
Kwa-Thema – The Thabang Xaba Foundation has waged a fight against drug addiction in Kwatsaduza.
In their latest initiative, the organisation will be hosting a prayer day for International Drug Awareness and Prayer Day on Sunday 26 at the Central Methodist Church from 14:00 to 16:00.
The event will be hosted under the theme ‘no holiness but social holiness’, in collaboration with the Regional Local Drug Action Committee (LDAC) and The Methodist Church of South Africa.
The initiative will see affected families and beneficiaries under one roof sharing ideas on how the organisations can best cater for their needs.

The foundation’s managing director, Thabang Xaba explained the event aims to collectively affirm support to victims, beneficiaries of substance abuse and their families.
“The daily increasing number of users results in families and communities often finding themselves in a state of despair.
“We can support the addicts and recovering addicts by placing them in rehabilitation centres and aftercare programmes but forget the pain that they left behind,” he said.
Xaba added that these are addicts who left parents, siblings and neighbours fighting.
Through the engagement with residents, the foundation will be able to map a new way to support those affected.
