Church to celebrate the memory of late bishop
Republican Trinity Church of Southern Africa will be hosting a memorial lecture on the late Bishop Timothy S Shabangu.
Kwa-Thema – Republican Trinity Church of Southern Africa will be hosting a memorial service in remembrance of Bishop Timothy S Tshabangu under the theme “A spirited church by a spiritual leader for a spirited community”.
Tshabangu was a well-known religious leader and a prominent community activist who focused on the development of the poor and the most vulnerable in society. He died on June 25, 2021.
The memorial lecture will be hosted on June 22 at 13:00, while the memorial service will be on June 25 at 09:00 at 2 Mdebuka Street, Kwa-Thema.
This will be an opportunity to celebrate the rich life of this icon as he led the struggles of the poor during a difficult time in the 80s. He opened the church to be the venue of community mobilisation and motivation to overthrow the oppressive government of the past.

His role led to him serving on many trusts – among others the Carnival City Community Trust and Mpho Madi Trust. These trusts are focused on the development of young people in areas of entrepreneurship and also giving support to children born without limbs.
The remembrance programme will be preceded by a memorial lecture organised by Clr Thulani Simelane and to be addressed by MEC Nomantu Nkomo Ralehoko.
The main event will be hosted at the church through the leadership of Reverend Duncan Nkosi.
