Springs Home Sweepers suffer day of losses in Gauteng Development League

Kwa-Thema – Sweepers FC boys’ team suffered a major blow as the team lost all their division matches on Saturday in the Gauteng Development League (GDL).
Visitors Siluma FC stunned home team Springs Home Sweepers when they proceeded to win all four divisions against the team at Kwa-Thema Stadium.

The game started with the U13s that lost the match 3-0, followed by the U15s losing 5-0. The U17s tried redeeming themselves by scoring one goal. That did not help as the opponents were too strong and ended up scoring three goals against Sweepers.
The team’s U19-side was also beaten 4-1.

Sweepers dismayed technical director Mkhonza Mkhonzana said his team failed to prepare.
“Our players are busy with exams that has contributed to poor preparation by the team for these games.
“But, we believe that when you lose that’s when you learn.
“This is also an opportunity for us to identify where we have been lacking as a team,” he said.
He added that winning isn’t everything.

“It’s okay. What’s important is that we are developing players and nothing beats that.
“We will bounce back, we always do,” added Mkhonzana.
On a positive note, the club’s girls team won 3-2 against Wits University in the Sasol League on Sunday.
