Jazz artist Mocoustic plans to release new material

Kwa-Thema – Fans of guitarist and jazz artist Mocoustic can rejoice as new music is on the way.
His new single, titled Nguwe, will be released in the second week of July.
The single is from his upcoming extended play (EP) set to be released later this year.
Mongezi Kodisang is a vocalist and guitarist whose passion for music was sparked after he joined the school choir in primary school.
“I was into sports, mostly loved athletics and I would participate now and then in school competitions.
“Funny enough I was never selected to participate in provincials which broke my heart at times but I would still go to the trials.
“I then started developing an interest in the school choir,” he said.
After he joined the choir his mother began to mentor him and that’s when he started participating in music competitions.

Kodisang said though people believed in his capabilities he still felt he could do more.
As he grew older he developed an interest in playing a musical instrument.
“I was first introduced to the piano, but after some weeks I ditched it before I got introduced to a guitar by a friend of mine. The idea of playing the guitar and infusing it with vocals grew on me,” he said.
In 2011 he enrolled at the East Rand School of Arts where he joined the school jazz band.
“That’s when I sharpened my guitar skills and started with vocal classes, opera music and started performing on a professional level.
“There I got an opportunity to explore other musical styles and techniques and also did music theory and joined different bands,” explained Kodisang.
In 2012 he joined a band called Solid The Band and performed at Sophia Town before venturing into his solo career in 2013.
He was also a finalist in Onesto the Search which he said played a vital role in shaping him as an artist.
