NPO’s new local film to tackle substance abuse
Locals will get to see the movie before the end of the year.
Kwa-Thema – the NPO, Bokamoso Youth and Community Development, will be releasing a new film that will create awareness about substance abuse.
The last instalment of the film was shot on June 16.
The founder of the organisation, Tebogo Bowe, said they started filming on June 4 around Kwa-Thema.
He said the movie, titled Spiritual Journey, showcases a young man who loses both his parents, one to crime, the other to cancer, and then turns to drugs as a coping mechanism.

“With this project, we want to make people aware of the dangers of substance abuse. We are also trying to identify the causes of such behaviour and our young and talented cast carried the storyline well,” he said.
The promo video will be released at the end of July on their social media platforms and YouTube channel. He said their goal is to take the final product to national television.
Shooting the final scene was also part of commemorating Youth Day. The NPO works with young people on skills development, educational support, arts and extramural activities.
They offer filming and acting, dancing, music, choreography and modelling.
