Chef Thabo is living his dream

Kwatsaduza – Thabo Ntoanyane follows his passion after enduring a year studying civil engineering.
The 29-year-old is the founder of and runs his own company called Vester’s, making cakes, cookies and other sweet treats.
Inspired by his grandmother, Ntoanyane baked his first tray of scones at the age of 10.
His grandmother was a businesswoman who used to make scones, vetkoek and various pastries.
“I was always in the kitchen helping her measure out the flour, mixing the ingredients and of course licking the bowl,” he said.

After completing his matric he went on to study civil engineering at the request of his parents.
“I was not passionate about this so and knew I didn’t see myself pursuing a career in this field, I decided to drop out a year later to follow my dreams.
“He enrolled at the Capsicum Culinary Studio’s in Cape Town campus in 2018 and 2019 where he graduated with a Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking and a Diploma in Patisserie,” he added.
Ntoanyane added that he sees his business growing and is working hard towards the day when he will open his baking and confectionery shop and host private dining experiences.
“At the moment I am working out of my kitchen but I am sure that soon I will have saved enough to have my own bakery where customers can come in and buy my freshly baked goods off the shelf,” he added.
