Kwa-Thema Cricket Club/Hub introduces new members to the team

Kwa-Thema – Local cricket hub recruits new staff to amplify the sports code in Kwatsaduza.
Forty-three young people in Kwa-Thema have been absorbed into the National Youth Services (NYS) programme supported by Cricket South Africa (CSA), to provide hubs with manpower to carry out their mandates and goals for the year.
Benefiting from this initiative are the Kwa-Thema Cricket Club/Hub and local schools that partake in cricket activities.
There will be the introduction of 30 coaches, three administrators, three tutors, four ground staff members and three security personnel.

“We have started with the course for the ground staff, the rest will soon follow.
“When schools re-open the teams will be divided and assigned to the new coaches.
“This project has come at the right time where sports at schools are dropping.
“It has also given young people a chance to learn something new, which is cricket,” stated Kwa-Thema Cricket Club/Hub head coach Tebogo Gaduka.

The programme started last month and will run until November.
Newly appointed coaches are receiving training for when schools re-open, as well as the administrators.
Gaduka said this step will benefit the entire Kwatsaduza.

“The Duduza Hub is also in the programme, now we are going to be able to coach a lot of schools than we did before.
“Prior to this, we were three coaches only in Kwa-Thema.
“So, now the number has gone up meaning reaching more learners at schools who will ultimately be placed into the hubs.”
They are currently training at Kwa-Thema Sports Complex (Prince Thethe Oval) from 10:00 until 12:00, for the upcoming KFC mini cricket tournament that is going to take place from July 18 to 20, at Kwa-Thema Sports Complex from 10:00 to 14:00.
Gaduka added that having more players will enable them to host local school leagues.
