Duduza residents can’t access public swimming pool due to cable theft

Duduza residents can't access the swimming pool due to cable theft.

Kwatsaduza- As residents across Ekurhuleni were excited to access public swimming pools, residents of Duduza are forced to wait a bit longer.

The electricity cable to Duduza swimming pool was stolen two weeks ago and it is yet to be replaced.

Ward 87 Clr Bongani Hlope told African Reporter that they are hoping to fix the problem as soon as possible to allow residents to use the facility.

The Kwa-Thema swimming pool, located at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex, is open for use from Tuesday to Sunday.

In a statement released by the metro about the opening of the facilities, it explained that before opening the facilities on October 1, the city ensured the pools get thorough maintenance and preparation to ensure a healthy and safe swimming environment for bathers.

Whilst only a selected number of pools are open, the city continues with maintenance at all times to ensure that the water quality of all pools is compliant with the safety standards set by Life Saving SA and the aquatics regulatory authorities.

While a majority of the pools may be open for use now, members of the public are advised to exercise caution and patience as high public turnouts are anticipated due to the current hot weather conditions.

Crowd control measures are in place and lifesavers are deployed to ensure the safety of patrons.
