A tennis club keeping the youth busy

A welcoming team for all

A unisex tennis club, Kwa-Thema Sparks Tennis, got the youth busy and occupied in playing a sport code they love.

A 20-year-old University of Pretoria student Tshepiso Mbasa said, “I love tennis as it helps me keep fit.

“Though I now stay in Pretoria due to my studies, I come home almost every weekend just so that I can practice and sometimes play tennis.”

Mbasa said she started playing tennis at an early age and it has helped keep her away from the streets and what takes place there.

“I would love to encourage the youth to join playing tennis or any other sport they love. Our coaches, Moses ‘Moss’ Ngwenya and coach Rita are very welcoming and good at what they do, so everyone is welcome,” said Mbasa.

The Sparks have practices on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 15:00 and Saturdays at 10:00 at the Highlands Tennis Court in Kwa-Thema.

Those who would like to join are encouraged to come with their own rackets.
