Valencia Football Club took on XI Experience on October 29 at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex. The game ended in a one-all draw, however, the coaches are happy with how the game went.
The teams are playing in the Springs Local Football Association U13 league, group B with Valencia in position three and Experience in the second position.
“It was a good game and my players gave a good performance. Due to the weather and other commitments, most of my U13 players couldn’t make it to the game therefore I had to field my U10 who played very well,” said Valencia coach Kaizer Mngomezulu.
Experience co-coach Buhle Mngomezulu said, “I am happy with the current position we are in. Most of my players were playing in the U11 last season and it’s their first time playing in the U13, therefore playing a full ground compared to when they used to play half-ground games and they are doing well. I am confident to say that next season we will be the number one team.”
Skhalo Gumede, Thabang Scara and Lunathi Nkosi who are fans of Valencia asked for parents to support their children.
“The players need support from the community and the parents. I plead with parents to come to watch their children play as it will boost their confidence,” said Nkosi.
Scara said, “When we were growing up, we played in well-maintained fields. It is a bit impossible now for the players not to get injured as the fields are no longer maintained.”
“Parents should also support their children financially as well or give them lunch boxes. It’s painful seeing the players playing while hungry and having to spend the whole day on the sports ground,” said Gumede.
