Tsakani – A 26-year-old woman was arrested for the abuse of her two-year-old child at an address on Duma Street, Ext 19, Tsakani on Wednesday.
Two other children, aged two and four, have been removed from her care by social workers.
This is after a whistle-blower who witnessed the incident informed the police.
Tsakani police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu said a collective response by Tsakani police and social workers from Tsakani Child Welfare was assigned to the matter.
“The arrest came as a result of the social worker’s assessment and preliminary investigations that revealed that a two-year-old child had multiple bruises on his body,” she explained.
Mngomezulu added this is a warning to residents who abuse children that they will face the law.
The investigation is underway and the suspect will appear in the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court soon.
