Rainy weather disrupts Kwa-Thema Cricket Club games

Games postponed due to rain

Kwa-Thema – Kwa-Thema Cricket Club had a bad weekend due to the rainy weather. All the junior teams, including the women’s team, were not able to play.

According to their coach, Mandla Nkosi, the weather resulted in the women’s team getting bad results as they had to share the spoils with Etwatwa women’s team and the junior teams’ games were postponed.

Nkosi, when referring to the women’s team, said, “Rainouts are killing us as we have to share points.

“Other teams are playing and winning, getting three points while we are getting one point.

“We had to share the spoils in the first game against Geluksdal due to the rain. We then won against Old Benonians and now we shared a point with Etwatwa.”

Nkosi said other teams that have cricket pitch covers can play, win and get three points while they remain behind.

The only teams which were able to play were the first league team, who played away against Kempton Park Cricket Club on November 5 in the afternoon and the Premier Reserve which played at home at the Prince Thethe Oval in Kwa-Thema on November 6 against Midrand Cricket Club.
