Kwatsaduza – Archaar Boys won the Nomndayi Festive Community Games after drawing one-all in the first game against Hoppies All Stars, winning all the other matches leading to the final clash against Amapantsula.
Archaar beat Amapantsula 3-1 in the finals on December 30.
Amapantsula coach Billy Simelane said, “It was good to see ourselves playing in the finals after two years of not playing in the tournament due to Covid.
“We had proper planning and our boys did their best. I think due to the weather, as there were heavy rains on the day, our boys couldn’t perform well.

“Part of our prize money went to charity, some was shared amongst our players and the remaining amount is saved up for the next tournament.”
Kenny Mohapi, Archaar Boys coach said, “We are very happy as a team. This was a tough competition and was very challenging.
“We have been preparing and getting ready for the tournament since the beginning of the year. It took hard work and dedication for us to see ourselves as the tournament victors.
The festive games also had individual prizes with these players winning in different categories:
– Defender of the tournament – Khanyisani Sithole.
– Middlefielder of the tournament – Njabulo Shabalala (Majombo).
– Goalkeeper of the tournament – Sipho Karolo.
– Handshake of the tournament – Njabulo Shabalala( Majombo).
– Top goal scorer of the tournament – Sibusiso Mkatu.
– Referee of the tournament – Bob Mabena.
– Assistant referees of the tournament – Kagiso Nkgudi and Mosona Mfene.
All the individual winners walked away with trophies and prize money.
Humphrey Sibande, Nomndayi PR said, “We would like to thank the community for their attendance at the games.
“We were truly supported and we are grateful.
“The hawkers with stalls also supported us and it makes us happy that they were able to make money through the games.”
Sibande said Nomndayi will be hosting Easter Games. There is a huge possibility that women’s football and netball will be added to the programme.
