Springs cop finishes first in Road Race
Local runners prepare for the Johnson Crane Hire Marathon.
Kwatsaduza – Mmeselane Ramushu competed in the 32km road race hosted by the Springs Striders at Veritas College on Sunday.
Runners from across Springs and neighbouring areas competed in the popular annual event.
Running in SAPS colours, he was the first SAPS member to complete the race. His time was 2:51.

Ramushu said he ran the race in preparation for the Johnson Crane Hire Marathon, which will be held on Sunday.
“The Johnson Crane Marathon is one of the races used for a runner to qualify for the Comrades Marathon.
“This race assisted me to gauge my fitness and determine areas of improvement toward qualifying for Comrades,” he explained.

He said he started preparing for this year’s Comrades when he returned from last year’s marathon.
“As a runner, you can’t take a long-term break and only start preparing for a big marathon a few months before the race.
“Each race, big and small, plays an important role in qualifying and conquering Comrades,” he concluded.
