Springs Home Sweepers FC ready for Sasol League games
Local ladies team needs your support.
Kwa-Thema –Springs Home Sweepers FC is already preparing for the upcoming Sasol League games which are set to kickstart on March 11.
The team finished seventh last season and is gearing up to improve from where it left off.
As part of their preparations, they will be hosting friendly games on March 11 at Phulong Secondary School.
Blu Raycoan FC, Alexandra Blue Birds Ladies Football Academy and Kathorus United will be participating in the upcoming games.
Technical Springs Home Sweepers coach Mkhonza Mkhonzana is encouraging locals to support the matches as they would with male soccer games.
“It is sad that ladies’ football does not receive the same support their male counterparts enjoy. Our ladies’ team is doing well. One of our players, Portia Masilela, is a member of the U17 Banyana Banyana team, with seven caps and has one cap in the senior team,” he said.
He added he is hoping for more players from his team to be selected for the U17 Banyana Banyana team.
“Our players are aged between 12 and 15. This is to allow them enough space to grow and learn technical skills about the sport and eventually make it into the national team and even international teams.
“They can achieve all this through the support of the community,” he added.
