Young badminton player wins gold in Tshwane

Refiloe Tshabalala will play at the Inter-Provincial Championship in Cape Town.

Duduza – Eyethu Badminton was invited to play in the U15 Gauteng Regional games hosted by the Northern Gauteng Badminton Association in Pretoria North on Saturday.

This was part of the last games in preparation for the SA U15 Inter-Provincial Championship in Cape Town from April 2 to 9.

Refiloe Tshabalala won a gold medal and earned a silver in the girls’ doubles playing with Chelsey Orr.

“Tshabalala has been working hard for the past few years. It shows that if you work hard and are determined and persistent, you can achieve everything you want. Tshabalala is an example that if you want something in life, you can achieve it,” said coach Bongani Simelane.

Simelane said he is proud of her because she worked hard.

“Sometimes I’m hard on her, but that’s because I want her to achieve more. I love her and want all the best for her in life.

“I also want to thank her for pushing me to be a good coach and to work hard on proving myself,” Simelane said.

Tshabalala and Orr had a good partnership at the games, and Simelane hopes they can play and grow together in the sport and achieve more together.

Eyethu Badminton will leave for the championships on March 31.
